Dino DeSantis Takes Home Big Cheese!

Seasoned veteran Dino "Nagurski" DeSantis won his first title after 17 seasons (6 with Bill Willis, 11 on his own), taking the top prize with his all-or-nothing bet on the Pack. Dino was only one of two players of the 26 to bet Green Bay, the other being Packer single-share owner Neil Fausset who finished in 4th place. Runner-up "Packer Dave" Van Handel goes home happy with a Packer victory, but chagrined by missing his all-or-nothing bet on the Pack that was just a half-hour past the deadline after the picks were posted. The Steelers failure to score on the last drive prevented John Lyon from winning his 1st Bookie Pool title, and Steeler turnovers probably cost Paul Lilly a 3rd championship as he bet Pittsburgh to plus 6. Bill Willis finished in 3rd place for the 2nd year in a row, preserving enough of his bet to back in despite losing $1225. In an interesting note and a first for the pool, Ken Jessop not only won the low-ball pool, he also won 3rd place for the week despite missing his pick! His $100 loss tied him with a bunch of others for third place for the week, but he had the best tie-breaker to secure the cash. Here are the Final Standings for the 2010 Bookie Pool season, and the updated Career Statistics.

There was one single-season Hall of Fame record broken. Dino's $486 winnings broke Larry Allen's previous record of $456 set in 2007 for most real money won in a season. There was also one single-season record broken in the Hall of Lame, as John Lyon's $10,104 losing wager was the biggest single game loss ever, shattering the previous record of $8800 set by Al Buddy back in 1999. Only one career record changed hands, as Mike Comstock overtook Troy Hale for best career tie-breaker aggregate.

Note from Commissioner: Here's the credit list showing how much you have coming, and how much you will owe next year. As in past years, if you have under $63 in winnings, unless I hear from you I'm going to assume you want it credited toward next year. If you have over $63, I'm going to subtract the $63 fee for next year and send you the balance. If you have a balance owed you, please either send me your address so I can mail you a check, or let me know if you want me to send it to your email address via PayPal. As in past years, I will wait about a week before sending payments, in case any errors are found in the Final Standings.

See you next year for the 20th season of the Bookie Pool!
