Nan Captures Bookie Pool Crown!

In the same year the NFL saw its first black head coach win a Super Bowl, the Bookie Pool saw its first female champion in its 15 year history! Nan Batchelor, who was in last place just 7 weeks ago, broke the curse of the pretty helmet brigade. Faced with the dilemma of picking from two fairly mundane helmets, Nan instead tossed the pretty helmet method and opted to take the conservative route that enabled her to clinch the Bookie Pool Crown before the Super Bowl even started, another first in Bookie Pool history. Kale Gilmore finished 2nd place for the 2nd year in a row. Former 2-time champ Paul Lilly finished 3rd, and Neal Faussett finished 4th. Here are the Final Standings and Career Statistics.

Neal Faussett won 1st place in the winning percentage pool, and did it in style with an impressive .705, which broke the single season record set by Bill Willis last year. Indy's late decision not to kick a field goal kicked Pat Mundy out of the hunt for the low-ball pool, which was ultimately secured by Chip Connelly, who in the process tied Courtney Tatum's Hall of Lame record set back in 1994 for most weeks with a net loss of 17. Chip was also dead last for 11 weeks this year, just one shy of the record set by Courtney in 1994.

Following are the Final Season prize winners:

In other Hall of Lame news, John Lyon overtook Larry Williams for worst career tie-breaker aggregate. In the Hall of Fame, in addition to Neal's record winning percentage, Mike Comstock overtook Chip Connelly for best career plus-6 winning percentage.

Newsflash: It has come to our attention that some man with a secret alias who goes by the name of Nan may have signed up for the pool. But because of inclusive evidence that this year's pool winner is really an imposter who is male, we have no choice but to award the crown to our resident female, a woman for gosh sakes, as shocking and impossible as that may sound. Seriously, Congratulations Nan!

Note from Commissioner: Here's the credit list showing how much you have coming, and how much you will owe next year. As in past years, if you have under $63 in winnings, unless I hear from you I'm going to assume you want it credited toward next year. If you have over $63, I'm going to subtract the $63 fee for next year and send you the balance. If you have a balance owed you, please either send me your address, or let me know if I can send it to your email address via PayPal. The commissioner's preferred method for both receiving and sending payments is Paypal. As in past years, I will wait about a week before sending payments, in case any errors are found in the Final Standings.

Thanks everyone, and hope to see y'all next year!
